TIRANA, Dec. 13 – The Albanian Foreign Ministry and the Social Insurance Institute (SII) signed a deal last Monday to cooperate on facilitating voluntary contributions of Albanian citizens living and working abroad. The agreement was signed by Foreign Minister Edmond Haxhinasto and SII director Evelina Koldashi.
Under the deal, the diplomatic representations abroad will enable Albanian immigrants to be acquainted with the voluntary social security contributions in the Republic of Albania, whereas the SII will make possible their inclusion in the voluntary social insurance scheme.
Both institutions expressed their confidence that the deal will bring real assistance in terms of providing effective services to the Albanian nationals living and working abroad.
Speaking to reporters, Minister Haxhinasto said “we signed an agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Social Insurance Institute for the establishment of the diplomatic corps infrastructure to the benefit of the Albanian immigrants regarding their voluntary insurance and the benefit of social security for the period when they contributed to the social security system during the time they worked in Albania. This is a very important event for the improvement of the services that the Albanian government offers to its immigrants.”
