TIRANA, May 14 – Albanian Defense Minister Fatmir Mediu held a visit to Kuwait and Qatar May 5-9, a ministry statement said Friday.
Mediu met in the two countries, which the statement considered amongst the strongest in the region, with top officials to discuss bilateral issues of cooperation in the military and economic spheres.
The minister made a presentation of the Albanian economic environment, asking for investment from the two countries in tourism, road and airport infrastructure, and energy.
The minister said the countries should strengthen not only their diplomatic ties but also their economic and cultural connections.
The Kuwaiti premier, Al Sabahi, said they were ready to invest in Albania but they would need a map of the areas where they could do that, according to the statement.
Albanian army units that go to Iraq first pass through Kuwait where they receive assistance from the Kuwaiti counterparts.
In Qatar, Mediu thanked local officials on their stand on the Kosova status process and urged both countries to intensify relations in many spheres.
