TIRANA, Sep. 15 – The Defense Ministry denied Saturday media reports that it had increased military alert of the army forces due to the recent development in the status of neighboring Kosova.
The ministry denied there was a higher alert, clarifying that bilateral ties with different countries have intensified along with the country’s efforts to achieve full membership into NATO.
The media said that the army had increased the alert after some statements from different Serb politicians that Belgrade would use military force if Kosova declared unilateral independence.
Tirana said at the time that it was ready to respond to any new development.
