TIRANA, Aug. 13 – President Bamir Topi decided Monday that the partial election for a parliamentary member who is to replace himself now serving in another position will be held September 23.
The election will be held in a district within Tirana.
At the same time Topi invited all political parties to contribute to a free, fair and transparent electoral process that would comply with international standards.
Post-communist Albania’s elections have always suffered shortcoming due to the intervention of political parties trying to manipulate them.
Holding free and fair elections according to democratically-accepted standards remains a top priority and request that Albania is expected to fulfill along its way to becoming integrated into NATO and the European Union.
