The annual book fair will be held in Tirana on November 14th with opening remarks from the president of the Republic of Albania Bamir Topi and the Italian writer Alberto Bevilaqua. The book fair is the biggest event organized in Albania and it also features the participations of a lot of publishing houses in Albania, Kosova, Montenegro, and Macedonia etc. It is organized by the Publishers Association with the support of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports. Fatmir To詬 head of the Publishers Association says that this year’s edition will introduce the best titles of the recent years. “This event will bring together everyone concerned about the Albanian literature, authors, publishers, translators and media people, aiming to create a net of contacts between them which will help the promotion of the books to a wider range of readers, especially the young ones” says To詮 The annual book fair will feature at about 150 publishing entities, graphic and disco-graphic studios, etc.
Books promotions
Visitors and readers will have the opportunity to attend a lot of press conferences and books promotions during the 5 days of the fair. There have been scheduled some 120 meetings with the authors and translators of different books.
Participating authors
Two of the most well-known authors attending the annual book fair in Tirana are Alberto Bevilaqua and Bozidar Prosenjak.
Alberto Bevilaqua is one of the most famous Italian writers in the world. His first collection of stories, “The powder” ON, (1955), had the appreciation of Leonardo Sciascia. His first success was “La califfa” (1964), whose protagonist, Irene Corsini, with her temperament full of energy but also sweetness, is one of the most intense female characters of Italian literature. The novel that best characterizes this species is perhaps of love that won the Campiello Prize (1966). Moreover Alberto Bevilacqua is also a poet and has continued to support his work to that of narrator. His writings have been translated in Europe, the United States, Brazil, China and Japan.
Bozidar Prosenjak was born in Koprivnica, Coratia. In 1980 he starts and edited for more than sixteen years the library “Albatros” in Velika Gorica. He keeps on publishing prosaic, poetry, drama and critical texts in the periodical press, on radio and television. Some of his writings translated into more than 20 world languages.
