TIRANA, July 3 – Elhaida Dani, the Albanian singer who recently won the “Voice of Italy” talent show has just released her new album. Titled Elhaida Dani, the album, a production of “Universal Music Italia,” was launched on July 2 as an award for the first “Voice of Italy” winner who made proud Albanians all over the world.
The album contains 7 songs, among which two new entries, the already known, “When love calls your name”, with lyrics and music by Riccardo Cocciante, Dani’s coach in the “Voice of Italy” contest, and another more rhythmic song in Italian “Baciami e basta” (Just kiss me), written by Francesco Silvestre.
Everybody felt proud of being Albanian in late May 2013 when 19-year-old Elhaida Dani became the “Voice of Italy” in a talent show where she emerged as favourite since its beginning. The talented singer from Shkodra, northern Albania, overcame all prejudice about Albanians in Italy, where more than 400,000 migrants, live and work, by winning the support of the Italian public which applauded and voted her since the beginning of the Voice of Italy’s first edition last March. She won by a convincing 72 percent of the vote in the final beating an Italian male contender in the final.
Elhaida Dani has participated in a series of son contests in Albania since she was 14. In 2012, she won the Top Fest song contest.
Some of Albania’s headlines were dedicated to Elhaida Dani on May 31, just after she had won the Voice of Italy while political leaders congratulated her on the success.
