TIRANA, May 12 – The Italian Institute of Culture in Tirana is hosting a solo exhibition by young Albanian contemporary painter Eltjon Valle.
The exhibit is part of the “Italy around the world pavilion, Biennale 2011” project conceived by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in cooperation with the 89 Italian institutes of culture around the world to mark Italy’s 150 anniversary of unification. The project involves Italian artists or foreign artists closely connected to Italy as is the case of Valle who lives and works in Milan.
The exhibition will remain open to the public from May 13 to 19.
Eltjon Valle has also been selected as one of the five artists who will represent Albania in this year’s 54th International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale scheduled from June 4th to November 27th 2011.
Albania’s exhibition will be called Geopathies, which condenses the curatorial idea of identifying a close relationship between the work of art and the geographical, historical and social context.
Late last year, Eltjon Valle and Artan Shabani opened a joint exhibition in La G鯨rale en Manufacture gallery in Paris introducing to the public their latest works, consisting in collage and others mediums. Eltjon Valle was introduced with a series of works from the research arguments of The Marinz Project, which the artist has developed over time. The Project reflects important stories. “As there is no personality, this unidentified portrait covered up with adhesive could belong to everybody,” curators said.
Eltjon Valle was born on 1984 in Kucove. He lives and works in Milan. He graduated from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts (Milan) in 2007. Currently, the artist develops a New Media Art Design postgraduate programme in the same institution. His works have been displayed in O’Artoteca, Milan and The Promenade Gallery, Vlora (2010), Museo D’Arte Contemporanea Villa Croce, Genoa and The National Center of Contemporary Art, Moscow (2009), Micro Museum in New York, Taller Siete, Medellin Colombia, and The National Gallery of Arts, Prishtina (2008), Public Art, Trieste, Biennale di Venezia/Off Albanian Pavilion (2007), The National Gallery of Arts, Tirana (2006), Tirana Biennale/Off (2005) etc.
