TIRANA, Jan.8-During the weekly meeting of the Council of Ministers, PM Sali Berisha made an appeal to the Albanian Electro-energy Corporation to devise an emergency strategy in order to avoid future crisis. This according to Berisha should find a balance between production and import in order to address demand. He also mentioned the improved situation of the water levels in the north dams which guarantees the end of power rationing. The news was confirmed by KESH head, Gjergji Bojaxhi, who said that no more rationing will be seen in 2008 as the corporation has devised new strategies to avoid technical losses.

Technology preventing theft
Up to the end of 2008 the KESH will supply energy measurement units to the entire country. It will be more difficult to steal energy as the new technology used by KESH will include devices that track energy theft. Bojaxhi reiterated the need for severe punishments for law violators.
KESH payments devalue the domestic currency
The euro has gained 155 points yesterday in the foreign exchange markets. Even after the increased supply of euros from the immigrants arrival during the holiday season the euro has no been devalued. On the contrary the average figures have increased from 1 euro being traded at 123.5 lek instead of 122 lek. Daily Korrieri supported allegations that the change is due to the high demand for euros of the Albanian Electro-energy Corporation (KESH) in order to pay off its import contracts.
