TIRANA, Dec. 6 – KESH has presented to the Energy Regulatory Authority a complete file of arguments on the proposal of overturning the energy price decrease for the business community granted by the government upon their electoral promise to provide energy at favorable prices. KESH has requested an increase of the price of energy for two different categories. For large size business that gets high voltage electricity the price should change from 4.5 to 6 lek/kWh and for the medium and small size business that requires a supply of low voltage electricity the price should be increased from 7.5 to 8 lek/kWh. The last category includes the bread bakeries and water supply stations. KESH has also presented a request to change the price for household consumption that is currently 7.21 lek/kWh despite the quantity consumed. The financial crisis of KESH will affect all categories of Albanian society and business community. The later has expressed their concerns mostly related to the irregular supply than the increase in price. It seems s business fears a situation like that of last year when their activity was almost frozen due to the energy crisis. KESH still denies claims that hourly rations of shortages are being applied throughout the country and blames the cuts on defects and prevention measures.
