Environment day celebrated with events

TIRANA, June 7 – A series of events were held last weekend on the occasion of the Environmental Day at a number of places around the country.
This time it seemed that not only the non-governmental organizations but also many companies were involved in getting the environment cleaner in the country.
Eagle Mobile cell phone operator with some 60 young personnel made a campaign to clean the environment at the Pogradec area, near Lake Ohrid.
Eagle Mobile was involved in a five-week tour involving some 3,000 students to clean the area in different cities in Durr쳬 Vlor묠Lezh묠Kuk쳬 Tiran롡nd Kamz뮠
AMC, the other mobile operator, and the Volunteers’ Corpus, a local NGO, held the same kind of event in many areas along the seaside in Durres.
The Tirana International Airport Mother Teresa also made a campaign to clean the area outsides its airport at the Rinas commune. Other companies operating in the area joined the operation.
Achieving new standards for a clean environment is a benchmark the tiny Balkan country should fulfill along its efforts of integration into the European Union.
