TIRANA, July 7 – Joseph Daul MEP, Chairman of the EPP Group, hailed Prime Minister Sali Berisha for his victory in the June 28 parliamentary polls.
“Albania has chosen a continuity of responsible policies and a government willing and capable of transforming the country and bringing it closer to the European Union,” said Joseph Daul, Chairman of the EPP Group in the European Parliament, in congratulating Prime Minister Sali Berisha and the Democratic Party on the vote of confidence they received from the Albanian people at the national elections which took place on 28 June, and also on the announcement on the formation of a coalition government.
“Mr Berisha has received another four-year term at the helm in an important period for Albania which has made clear its EU aspirations. I am particularly pleased that his policies were recognized as a credible asset in this regard.”
“Albania has demonstrated maturity in removing many of the past deficiencies in the electoral process and shown commitment to adopting European standards and to the country’s European integration,” concluded Chairman Daul.
