ERT: Mobile phone companies revenues for 2006 $550 million

TIRANA, March 5- The National entity of telecommunications (ERT) submitted to the parliament the annual report for mobile phone activities for 2006, according to which the companies Albtelekom, AMC and Vodafone Albania between them have had revenues of $ 550 million. The significant figure is equal to 6 percent of the GDP for the same year. During 2006 the revenues increased by 4 percent compared to 2005. ERT reports that the increase in revenues of 10 percent belongs to the mobile companies while Albtelekom has had a general decrease. The number of subscribers has also increased steadily with a total of 2.1 million mobile phone users up to July of 2007. More than 70 percent of Albanians use a mobile phone according to statistics up to 2007.
