TIRANA, April 12 – Interior Minister Bujar Nishani met with head of the EULEX Mission in Kosovo Yves De Kermabon to discuss further promoting cooperation.
Nishani presented the country’s achievements in the fight against organized crime and illegal trafficking, by identifying that in recent years some 300 organized crime groups have been attacked and more than 900 members of these groups have been prosecuted.
Nishani also focused on the excellent cooperation with international law enforcement agencies and that 250 wanted persons were extradited to Albania.
Minister Nishani also informed the Chief of EULEX of the current deepening of trans-border cooperation with neighboring countries, based on relevant agreements predicting patrols and mutual operations.
Nishani also said that the agreement of cooperation against organized crime with Kosovo has been efficient on setting up some mutual operations, mainly against weapon trafficking, also assuring De Kermabon of the readiness for cooperation of law enforcements agencies in the two countries and international agencies as well.
De Kermabon evaluated Albania’s achievements and also expressed the need to deepen the cooperation between law enforcement agencies of Albania and Kosovo.
He introduced some of the main fields where his mission was focused in Kosovo such as activity monitoring of state structures and law enforcement, experiences on enhancement of administrative and professional capacities and prompting of cooperation between institutions and law enforcements agencies in Kosovo with neighboring countries.
