TIRANA, Nov 24 – Integration Minister Majlinda Bregu reported Monday that Brussels had asked Tirana to create new joint agencies that would help the country during the period of the implementation of the Stabilization and Association Agreement, which the country signed two years ago.
Reporting to the parliamentary integration commission, Bregu said that the government was aware that the European Union had made it clear that justice reforms and the fight against corruption remained top items in its daily work.
The minister considered the request for creating joint structures to be a positive result of government reforms and work toward the implementation of the interim agreement with the bloc.
Albania’s SAA has been ratified by almost all EU member countries. Following that, the country may apply for the candidate status.
