EU’s regional meeting to distribute money held in Albania

DURRES, June 18 – The coordinating meeting of the European Union’s IPA regional program for 2007-2009 was held Monday in Durres.
The meeting will coordinate and allocate EU money for the next fiscal period. This was the fifth such meeting held.
Eight countries which hope to join the EU, including Turkey, took part in the meeting.
The EU has set 401 million euros to invest in these countries.
The main goal of the program is to strengthen cooperation and dialogue among those countries that would, in turn, help their economic and social development.
The program’s money will be invested in customs and taxation, education and scientific research, international markets and commerce, judiciary and reforms in public adminsitration and dialogue within civic society.
