TIRANA, June 22 – Manuel Montobbio, who in December 2010 concluded his fruitful mission as the first Spanish Ambassador to Albania, has published a new book dedicated to Albania: The “Gupo굩ca de Albania” (Poetic Guide to Albania). The publication, currently only available in Spanish, takes the reader on a journey through historical, cultural and geographical Albania; a journey in the heart and spirit of Albania, its drama and myths.
This journey consists of five elements: Tirana, Bunkers, Sworn Virgins, the Winds of Albania and the Skies of Albania.
The book is not only a testament to Albania, but also to Montobbbio’s dedication to the small country. Throughout his term as ambassador, he put great effort into introducing Spain to Albanian society and creating a solid Spanish-Albanian foundation, by bringing Spanish artists, educators, and musicians to the country.
Also a scholar and professor of Political Science, Montobbio is currently working on a second book– which will focus on international politics and will be published in collaboration with the Albanian Institute for International Studies.
