TIRANA, Dec. 24- All future fairs to be organized in Albania will have to be coordinated by a special unit of the Economy Ministry that will be established next year. All business fairs and exhibitions will have a special unit for their coordination, called the National Center of Fairs and Commercial Exhibitions. The authority granted to this unit will be to organize and manage all fairs, both national and international. The new draft law prepared by the Ministry has been written following consultations with interest groups and is expecting approval. Up until now, these events have been coordinated with ad-hoc administration decisions. The new measure aims at centralizing the organizing of the fairs and improving their quality. The main problem so far have been the lack of professional standards, the inconsistent participation in annual events, spontaneous and uncoordinated participation as well as ad-hoc fairs that have failed to portray the real situation of Albanian business. The new center will first draft an annual calendar of all planned and expected activities in and outside Albania and then prepare a strategy in order to increase Albanian exports. Strict procedures will be drafted in order to regulate the activity of fairs and exhibitions. The latter will be also organized locally under the administration of local chambers of commerce.
