FBI-wanted Albanian arrested

TIRANA, March 18 – Albanian police arrested on Tuesday Gjergj Hajati, 31, an Albanian-American citizen. Hajati was wanted by the FBI related to charges of fraud in the US state of Maryland.
Hajati was arrested at the Hani i Hotit border crossing while trying to cross into Montenegro. Border police stopped the suspect after his name popped up in the Interpol wanted list.
A year ago a court in Harford County, MD, issued an international arrest warrant related to charges of mass fraud.
The suspect is being held in custody in a Tirana jail, while awaiting extradition procedures to the US.
