Fifty French musicians to perform in Berat

TIRANA, August 3 – Fifty French, Albanian and Kosovo musicians will perform for two days in the city of Berat, a UNESCO World Heritage site, in the first edition of the “One-to-one sounds” festival. The festival scheduled to be held on August 6 and 7 at the local cultural centre in the southern town Berat will bring together France’s “Appassionati” clarinet quartet and the Marcillac orchestral ensemble.
The musicians will perform classical, contemporary and Albanian music.
The festival’s first night will bring on stage the Appassionati quartet performing music by some of the greatest composers such as Mozart, Brahms, Piazzolla, Albinioni etc.
The second and final night will bring performances by the Marcillac orchestra with parts from Puchedu, Morricone, Ray Charles, as well as klezmer and Albanian music.
The festival is brought to Berat by Genc Dollani, an Albanian instrumentalist of the Appasionatti quartet. Dollani said he selected Berat to hold the festival’s first edition as his hometown.
Musicians will also perform three Albanian songs adapted for classical orchestra.
Dollani, who now performs in France, returns to Albania almost every year in concerts organized by the Culture Ministry and the Opera House.
Kosovo clarinetist Blerim Emerllahu has also been invited to perform in the festival, which is supported by Berat municipality and some French institutions such as Mairie de Marcillac, Communaut顤e Communes de L’Estuaire, Leclerc and Terroirs de Tutiac.
