Figures released on electric power situation in first half this year

TIRANA, Aug. 15 – The following is the balance of the electric power for the first half of this year, according to the Institute of Statistics.

The total sources of electric power during the first half f 2007, had a sharp decrease of 16.3 percent compared with the same period in 2006.

The quantity of sources attained to 3,067 GWh. The domestic production of electric power decreased by 48.9 percent compared with the first half-year 2006.

In the first half of 2007, total domestic production quantity is 1,622 GWh and made up 52.9 percent of total sources of electric power.

The substantial decrease of hydro electric production, by 50.3 percent, was the main reason for the decline of total domestic production. Hydroelectric plant production during this half-year covered 95.3 percent of the total domestic production.

Electric power produced by thermo plants increased by 19.7 percent compared with the first six months of year 2006. The production by concession and private plants increased by 4.3 percent, compared with the same period in the previous year.

Total losses in the network fell on by 13.3 percent compared with the first six months of 2006. The quantity of total losses in the first half of 2007 is 1,156 GWh. They compose 37.7 percent of the quantity available for use. Losses in distribution had decrease by 13.4 percent compared with the same period in 2006. In the referring period of year 2007, they consist of 91.1 percent of the lost quantity of energy in the network.

Consumption by users had a slight increase by 2.8 percent compared with the first half-year of 2006. Its quantity reached 1,850 GWh and made up 60.3 percent of the total electric power available for use.

Electric power consumed by the residential sector during 2007 had decrease by 3.3 percent from the quantity consumed in the first half of 2006. This sector had consumed 58.1 percent of the quantity available for all final users. Electric power consumed by other users increased by 12.6 percent in the first half-year 2007
