TIRANA, Oct. 28 – “First Step Film Fest”, an international student and independent film festival is taking place for the first time in Albania from October 25 at the Imperial Cinemas, Hotel Sheraton, Tirana.
The purpose of the “First Step Film Fest” is to promote artistic and professional values and also to keep Albania out of cultural isolation.
“There is just only one short film fest in Albania, and this is not enough. The young directors have no possibilities to see their work in some national or international events in Albania. We think that is very important for a student to confront with other student from around the world, in way to see different cultures, different thoughts and to analyze the way that their colleges work. We hope that First Step Fest will be a good chance for every young filmmaker in Albania to get an inspiration and a spin for continuing his dream,” says Balkans Beyond Borders (BBB), a non-profit organization based in Athens with purpose to promote intercultural dialogue and an innovative way of learning through the art of film-making and image.
This project involves bringing students and teachers from different countries to participate with their films. Part of the programme will be the lectures and workshops of the teachers or directors from different countries about film issues.
There will be nearly 130 films shown within the 5 day duration in Tirana, during the first edition of First Step Film Fest.
The festival’s full programme can be accessed on www.festival.fsass.org.
