TIRANA, Jan. 3 – The Institute of Statistics produced the following report on foreign trade developments in November, 2007.
The report noted that exports were 9,130 million leks of commodities, with an increase of 33 percent compared with the same month a year ago and 11 percent higher compared to the previous month.
Imports were 38,561 million leks of commodities with an increase of 40.6 percent compared to Nov. 2006 and 14.1 percent higher than in October, 2007.
The trade deficit was 29,431 million leks or 15.1 percent higher than a month ago, or 43.1 percent more than November, 2006.
Trade with the EU countries covered 60.7 percent of the total. The main trade partners remained Italy and Greece. Exports to Italy are 83.3 percent of total exports and imports account for 50 percent, while exports with Greece are 7.3 percent and imports are 24.4 percent.
