TIRANA, Oct. 19 – Serious crimes prosecutors asked Albania’s parliament for permission to arrest Saimir Tahiri, the former minister of interior who is currently a Socialist Party lawmaker. Prosecutors say Tahiri is under investigation for his alleged involvement with a drug cultivation and trafficking ring led by the Habilaj brothers. The request comes just a few days after the arrest of Moisi Habilaj, among several other suspects, by Italian authorities.
