TIRANA, April 27 – Four Montenegrin painters are showing around 70 artworks of different genres and techniques at the Edward Lear gallery in the southern UNESCO town of Berat. The exhibition, which will remain open until May 14 features paintings by Renata Masanovic Rijavec, Vahida Hasanagic Nimanbegu, Bibal Nikeziq and Edin Kapllani.
The exhibition comes soon after more than 100 Albanian and regional artists participated in a contemporary art exhibition held at the Edward Lear. The year-end “Lear 2010” exhibition, displayed works by artists from Albania, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia.
The exhibition which celebrated its 14th edition has become a year-end annual tradition for the historical town of Berat, which two years ago was added to the UNESCO World Heritage list as a rare example of an architectural character typical of the Ottoman period.
Open since 1994, the “Edward Lear” is one of the eldest and most important galleries in Albania. Its collection reveals the contemporary and traditional works of arts by Albanian and foreign artists.
