TIRANA, Sept.18-On the tenth anniversary of the central bank of Bosnia Herzegovina, the governor of the bank hosted an international banking conference attended by regional bank representatives. Kemal Kozaric, governor of the Central Bank of Bosnia Herzegovina invited his colleagues from Albania, Ardian Fullani; Macedonia, Petar Goshev; Montenegro, Ljubisa Krgovic; Serbia, Radovan Jelasic; and Vice Governor of Romania, Florin Georgescu; members of the Board of the Central Bank of Greece, George Demopoulos and member of the board of the Central Bank of Turkey, Lokman Gunduz, to take part in the conference.
The title of the conference was “Future collaboration of regional central banks” moderated by former governor of BiH central bank, Peter Nicholl.
Governor Fullani’s speech “Regional collaboration in Southeastern Europe” focused on launching an annual forum of central banks from the region in order to discuss both macroeconomic issues and other contemporary challenges such as technical efficiency of central banks.
Fullani explained the basis of the need to organize further meetings on three pillars: common challenges, common paths, and common achievements. The creation of large regional markets with large companies spreading throughout the region has increased the need to coordinate action between banks as well.
In his speech, Fullani was optimistic that the countries in the region are leaving their transition periods behind and progressing toward developed market economies. In this context, central banks have a crucial supporting role for implementing economic reforms.
