Oct. 26, National Youth Congress at 9:30 a.m.
The National Youth Congress supported by the Hanns Seidel Foundation is organizing in all 12 districts of Albania a series of meetings for the youth organizations, the youth forums of political parties, school students, teachers and young representatives of local institutions. The meetings theme will be communication and image, lobbying and advocating, as well as internal structure.
The trained youth will be participating in a national competition on the best youth engagement campaign. Representatives from Tirana Municipality, Education Ministry, National Service for Youth and other youth engagement specialists will participate in the forum.
Oct. 26, ‘’I have nothing against Gypsies, except that-’’. Sinti and Roma in German-speaking and other southeast European literature

Christian Frankenfeld studied literature, modern history and cultural anthropology in Paderborn and Bielefeld. He has a PhD in modern German literature and has taught German for more than 10 years at the University of Paderborn. He has also gained professional experience abroad at the ELTE University in Budapest and Ion Creanga University in Chisinau. As an independent professor and lecturer he know coaches workshops, seminars and traineeships in schools and universities.
Oct. 26, Conversation- Die tà¶dliche Doris- un-musical, non-musical and extra-musical
At Zeta Gallery, Tirana, 8 p.m., in English
Artist Wolfgang Muller tells the story of musical subculture in his 2013 bestselling book ‘’Subculture of West Berlin 1979-1989’’. His postpunk band ‘Die tà¶dliche Doris’ was also part of it, and in 2017 video performances and concerts of the band were published.
He will be screening the videos at Zeta, and then together with An Paenhuysen, 1980s subculture expert and curator of the exhibition, will be discussing with Albanian stage art connoisseurs about the ‘80s ‘’genial amateurishness’’, its rooting on 1920s dadaism and its significance on today’s German, Albanian and elsewhere’s artistic scene.
Oct. 27, Workshop: how can I write about contemporary art?
At Zeta Gallery, Tirana, in English
Art critic is an uncertain genre. It can be defined as journalism, reporting, but it can be also written in the style of personal diary, as an essay, in an academic manner, or even fiction. Best case scenario it goes beyond the artwork to philosophy. An Paenhuysen will present art critic as a mixed media in this workshop, from blogs to instagram. Participants will practically deal with writing and reflection, and will create exercises that will help with the development of imagination and skills.

Oct. 27, ‘’The legend of Timm Thaler or the boy who sold his laughter’’, a children’s film by Andreas Dresen
At Kinema Millenium, Tirana, 3 p.m.
Timm Thaler lives in poverty, yet he likes to laugh a lot. His laughter is so magical and contagious that the wicked baron Lefuet desires to adopt it with all means. So, the wealthiest man in the world gives the boy an immoral offer: if Timm sells his smile to Lefuet, he will win any bet in the future.
Timm signs the contract after some hesitation. He can fulfill any desire now but without his laughter he is a different person. Only his friends Ida and Kreschimir will remain loyal to Timm. They try to relieve Timm from the baron’s claws together, and with a trick they manage to get him back his amazing smile.
Oct. 30, We inweave: a German- Albanian thoughts play
At the Great Hall of the German Embassy, 6 p.m.
Soccer, cars, cuckoo clocks, brecel bread, German pastors, gnomes, old towns, leather pants, currywurst, poets’ land, thinkers’ land… There are countless things which we link with Germany. In a 10-day workshop that took place at Faik Konica high-school from Oct. 21-29, 15 German language students from high schools and university, will develop together literary texts in which they will present the similarities and differences between Albania and Germany. These works will then be exhibited on Oct. 30 at the German Embassy, in a night directed by Kathleen Bistrosch and Dr. phil. Christian Frankenfeld.
Oct. 23-28, ‘’Liked, shared, deceived- how can I recognize and detect Fake News?’’ workshop
At ‘Aleksander Xhuvani’ University in Elbasan
Fake News has turned into a daily topic for social media users, as social media is being used more frequently. However, Fake News aren’t just fabricated articles that fool everyone, but the more dangerous are the carefully composed manipulative pieces that consist of texts, pictures or videos, that easily spread on social media and that are difficult to detect or debunk.
The workshop participants will learn what Fake News is and how to detect them. They will compile their own unharmful fake news in an experiment, to closely understand how they function and spreak in social media, Facebook especially.
Nov. 1, Conference for German language teachers
At the Foreign Languages Faculty, University of Tirana, 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.
The Albanian Association of the German Language in collaboration with the Dept. of German Language will organize a conference of the theme ‘’teaching quality assurance for transmitting the German language as a foreign language. Opportunities- Limitations- Experiences.’’ German language teachers that will participate in the conference will get impetus and new ideas, as will also exchange ideas with referees from the Hambold University in Berlin and representatives of Austrian Education Ministry.
Nov. 1, Albanian-German trio with clarinettist Fabian Dirr
At the University of Arts in Tirana, 7 p.m.
Albanian cellist Vlorent Xhafaj, Albanian pianist Zamir Kabo and German clarinettist Fabian Dirr will perform a trio of pieces from Weber, Alban Berg, Krzysztof Penderecki, Max Bruch and Beethoven at the Grand Hall of the Arts University.
Fabian Dirr is clarinettist from Dresden’s philharmonic since 1995. He has been invited in other orchestras such as Staatskapelle Dresden, Symphony Orchestra of Bamberg, Symphony Orchestra of SWR Baden- Baden and Freiburg, Symphony Orchestra of Berlin Radio and Konzerthausorchester Berlin. Dirr is also clarinet professor at the Carl Maria von Weber University in Dresden.
