Germany’s Roland Berger to advise Albania on gas projects

TIRANA, Dec 13 – German-based Roland Berger has won an international tender to provide consultancy services for the development of large gas infrastructural projects in Albania, the Ministry of Economy said this week. Roland Berger, one of the world’s leading strategy consultancies, will specifically advise the Albanian government in its negotiations with the Trans Adriatic Pipeline.
“Globally reputed Roland Berger will advise the Albanian government’s negotiation group with TAP consortium to have the best benefits coming from this foreign investment of around 1 billion Euros in Albania” said Economy Minister Nasip Naco this week.
The selection of the Roland Berger as consultant is part of a project funded by the Swiss and Norwegian government to increase capacities for the development of significant gas infrastructure in cooperation with the private sector in Albania under a 2 million euro donation.
Waiting for Azerbaijan’s decision on building the infrastructure to carry gas to Europe from the major Shah Deniz gas field, the Albanian government remains hopeful the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), the only project including Albania in its route, will be announced the winner.
Nabucco and the Interconnector Turkey-Greece-Italy (ITGI) are two other projects competing to bring gas from the Caspian region to Europe, but do not include Albania in their projected route.
