TIRANA, March 10 – Police have recorded positive results in its fight against drug trafficking in the country.
In southern Gjirokastra police arrested Beqir Avduli, 44, and Hasan Avduli, 27, after blocking half a ton of marijuana they were allegedly trying to transport to neighboring Greece.
In northern Kruja, city police arrested Eduart Cela, 39, after finding 2.624 kg of cocaine in his car.
In Fier, police arrested two persons, Mithat Velaj and Bajram Minaj, accused of cultivating and trafficking drugs allegedly to neighboring Greece. They were found with at least 55 kg of cannabis sativa.
In another operation police stopped the Tirana-Athens bus at the Kakavie border crossing point with Greece. The bus was found to have 55 kg of marijuana hidden causing the arrest of the driver and his companion.
While in neighboring Greece, Thessaloniki city, police arrested a 25-year old Albanian together with a Greek counterpart transporting 11 kg of heroin.
