TIRANA, Nov 2 – The governing Democratic Party of Prime Minister Sali Berisha is to hold its national convention Dec. 12 to elect new party leaders.
The December convention is to elect new leaders in top party posts.
There have been many calls that the new leaders should not be members of the governing cabinet and should only commit themselves to political work.
There have also been calls to hold the ‘one member, one vote’ principle in the party’s election.
Aleksander Biberaj, a member of the party’s leadership, insisted on decentralizing the party and reforming its structure.
With the second win in a row and still being in power it is not expected there will be any drastic change. There is also no rival to Berisha for the top party’s post.
