Banks should be more transparent, says BoA governor

TIRANA, Aug. 22 – Adrian Fullani, governor of the central Bank of Albania, said Wednesday that commercial banks in the country should be more transparent in their services to clients.

Fullani said that the BoA had paid special attention to its transparency which is considered a priority.

“A main part of the BoA’s transparency is the goal of having a one-figure inflation, explanation of the context of the monetary and operational policy,” said Fullani at a meeting Wednesday used by the bank and titled “Are norms of interests reduced from the central bank’s transparency?”

Dutch expert, Prof. Sylvester Eijffinger of the Tilburg University in the Netherlands, was invited to speak on the issue.

Fullani said that transparency is another tool that should be widely used by the other part of the financial network in the country.

He asked the banking system, the other commercial banks to make a simple and sincere explanation of their products and services, of the commissions they offer and also publish reports on a timely basis and with quality financial information.
