TIRANA, Jan. 14 – Government says it will revise its decision that bans waste imports as part of a new package aimed at giving a boost to the plastics industry in the country.
Since September 2013, when the Socialist Party-led government came to power, local companies have been banned to import waste as raw material to be processes in Albania, considerably affecting their production, due to lack of waste separation at home.
Speaking in a meeting with plastics companies, Economy Minister Arben Ahmetaj said government would review the list of waste imports, by allowing the plastics companies to import their raw material.
The support package comes after government had previously adopted measures to support garment and footwear manufacturers and agriculture.
