TIRANA, March 10 – Greek Deputy Foreign Minister Miltiadis Varvitsiotis held a two-day visit to Tirana this week to discuss with local officials bilateral ties and ways of strengthening them.
Economic ties were of prior importance in his talks as Varvitsiotis is also in charge of these ties in Athens.
In his talks with Albanian hosts he naturally talked about Albania’s future NATO membership, expected next month, and also Albania’s progress and prospects in the integration process with the European Union.
Neighboring Greece has already ratified both protocols, though being the last country in Europe to do so.
Greece is Albania’s second trading partner behind Italy.
