TIRANA, April 6 – Guitarist Agim Doci will give on Friday, April 8, a concert at the Academy of Arts in Tirana as part of the concert season of the symphonic orchestra of the public broadcaster, RTSH. The concert, which will be conducted by Spain’s Carlos Domuez-Nieto, will bring parts by some of the most famous composers such as Spain’s Joaquin Turina and Joaquin Rodrigo, and French composer Georges Bizet.
Last March, Agim Doci performed in a concert of typical songs from the French-speaking Switzerland with soprano Majlinda Laska. The concert organized by the Swiss embassy was held at the “Vangjus Mio” cultural centre in Korca in the frame of
Francophone Spring events.
Admir Do詠was born 1982 in Tirana (Albania). Following studies at arts high school in Tirana, he earned his teaching and master concert diplomas at the Zurich University of the Arts. His concert schedule includes appearances at renowned festivals such as Festival Musikfestwoche Braunwald (Switzerland), Festival Boswiler Sommer (Switzerland), Liechtenstein Guitar Days (Liechtenstein), Festival Allegretto Albania (Albania), Ohrid Summer Festival (Macedonia), as well as tours with mezzo soprano Leila Pfister, flutist Matthias Weilenmann, cellist Mattia Zappa and the Galatea Quartet.
Contemporary music plays a special role in his career, premiering many works often written for him. He collaborates with different composers as well as with ensemble for contemporary music Zurich. Being one of the most innovative guitarists of his generation, he has mastered the 13-string guitar. The Swiss composer Martin Derungs dedicated to him the quintet for guitar and strings as well as the symphonic poem “water and wind” op. 99 for 13-strings guitar and symphonic orchestra.
