TIRANA, Dec. 12 – Albania’s Holta Dushi has been announced the best Albanian designer of 2011. In a gala event held in Prishtina’s central square in the evening of Dec. 10 Dushi became the first Albanian designer to win the competition, which this year marked its fifth edition. Designers and models from Kosovo, Albania and Macedonia came together in the event organized by Kosovo’s Gecjan Fashion Group.
“I am very happy that for the fifth year in a row Albanian designers have a venue where they can introduce their creations which are assessed by a professional jury” said Ilir Geci, the event’s organizer as quoted in a statement.
The jury headed by Albania’s Joni Peci also awarded prizes for the best veil and best express design.
The event, one of the few bringing together Albanian designers was organized by Kosovo’s Gecjan Fashion Group and RTV 21 in an open air catwalk show in downtown Prishtina.
In last year’s edition, XXL models were also models were also part of the competition.
