After the Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić declared during an interview with TV Prva, that Kosovo won’t be recognized as far as he’s the President, an immediate response came by Prishtina. Prime Minister of Kosovo Avdullah Hoti responded through Facebook that “without a mutual recognition with Serbia, there won’t be any agreement,” reminding Serbia that the dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade started again with a clear purpose, which was that of having a final agreement for “the normalization of the relationship and a mutual recognition, eliminating the option of partial agreement.”
Vučić’s interview drove the attention after he declared that until 2022, when the next Presidential and Parliamentary Elections will be held, Kosovo won’t be recognized by Serbia. He added also that after that date “it will be the people to decide,” alluding for a possible referendum on this topic once the election will be over. Next year will mark the 10th anniversary of the starting of the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, which during the years has been mediated by both the European Union and the United States. The last significant agreement between the two countries was made last September, when they agreed in Washington D.C, to normalize the economic relationship, in presence of President Trump.
