TIRANA, Dec. 10 – Renowned Albanian choreographer Ilir Kerni is working in Kosovo to stage the premiere of the La Sylphide romantic ballet in the Prishtina National Theatre, a ballet which will also come to Tirana as part of an Albania- Kosovo cultural exchange deal.
Kerni, who is currently the director of the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet in Tirana, returns to Kosovo for the fourth time as a choreographer.
“We want to strengthen the cooperation between the Kosovo and Albanian ballet dancers and that’s why this piece will stage in Tirana by late February 2015,” Kerni told local media in Kosovo.
La Sylphide, a romantic opera in two acts, is scheduled to premiere at the Kosovo National Theatre on Dec. 18 and 19.
Ilir Kerni, 59 a professional ballet dancer who spent most of his career as a soloist in Croatia, was appointed the director of the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet in October 2013, replacing maestro Zhani Ciko.
