Interim Agreement implementation lowers customs tariffs by 20 percent

TIRANA, Jan.7- Starting Jan.1 of this year customs fees for EU goods have been lowered by 20 percent compared to 2007 and by 60 percent compared to December 2006. The decision follows the obligations spelled out by the Interim Agreement with the EU. By January 2010 the EU goods will be imported with zero custom fees. Revenues predicted for 2008 out of custom fees are11.1 billion leks, $ 20 million less than in 2007, given the free trade agreements within the CEFTA framework, the bilateral one with Turkey and most importantly the Interim Agreement with the EU.
