TIRANA, Sept. 23 – Around 200 animated films are participating in the second edition of AniFest Rozafa international animation festival in Shkodra, northern Albania.
The festival’s second edition is being held from September 23 to October 1 at the local cinema in Shkodra, where Albanian and foreign animated film directors compete for several prizes.
AniFestROZAFA, the only event of this kind in Albania, is an international competitive and festive event and festival by children and for children. The event includes trainings, seminars, workshops and the international festival of animated films made by children and for children.
“This activity improves the richness of the artistic life of the city of Shkodra, giving children and young people more access to education and recreation in project and quality activities,” says Shkodra Mayor Lorenc Luka, adding that the event also helps in the presentation of artistic and cultural values, historical and monumental city of Shkodra giving its impact on the development of cultural tourism.
AniFestROZAFA is also the synonym of a meeting place for the Albanian and foreign artists, and an additional opportunity to get to know with the history of Albania’s biggest northern city that is rich in legends and monuments. The festival is supported by the Culture Ministry, the Shkodra Municipality and the National Cinematography Centre.
The history of Albanian animation dates back to 1975. Some 200 animated films, most of which during the country’s communist regime, have been produced since then.
