TIRANA, Dec. 13 – Albania has benefited 6.4 million euros of funds from the European Commission “IPA Adriatic CBC Programme” (2007-2013) under which 24 projects will be implemented in economic, social and institutional cooperation as well as natural and cultural resources, the Albanian Integration Ministry said in a statement.
The ministry says a total of 24 projects with Albanian partners were announced winners by Joint Monitoring Committee in three priority lists.
The Joint Monitoring Committee of the “IPA Adriatic CBC Programme” (2007-2013) has recently approved the first 32 ordinary projects for a total funding of 75 million, 25 for each of the three priorities. The decision was taken during the meeting held in L’Aquila from last 1st to 3rd December. These projects have been chosen among the 134 considered admissible at the end of the quality assessment performed by the Joint Technical Secretariat: 11 submitted on the first priority concerning the economic, social and institutional cooperation, 10 on the second priority concerning the natural and cultural resources, 11 on the third priority concerning the accessibility and networks. After an intense work the Committee identified the first projects within the Community cooperation programme with a total allocation of about 280 million euros aiming to harmonize the Adriatic cross-border area in favor of an institutional, economic, cultural, tourist, environmental and infrastructural cooperation. “We are satisfied with the work carried out by the members of the table,” explains the representative of the Managing Authority, Giovanna Andreola, manager of the International Activities sector of Abruzzo Region, adding that “we faced with a complex task considering the diversity of the objectives and strategic planning of the Countries and territories involved in the Programme.” The result obtained testifies the capabilities of consulting with the territory’s actors of the whole Adriatic area”. The “IPA Adriatic CBC Programme” involves eight Countries: Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Serbia, Greece and for Italy, behind Abruzzo Region, that is the Managing Authority of the Programme, also Friuli Venezia Giulia, Veneto, Emilia Romagna, Marche, Puglia and Molise Regions.
