TIRANA, May 20 – An Italian-Albanian book fair opened on Thursday afternoon in front of the National Arts Gallery in Tirana. The book fair which will continue until May 23 will bring together Albanian and Italian publishers.
The book fair was initially scheduled to be held from May 22 to 25 on the occasion of the World Book Day but was postponed because air traffic problems caused by the volcanic ash.
The Italian-Albania book fair will continue on Saturday, May 21 with a conference on literature and integration at the library of the National Arts Gallery. Several prizes will also be handed over to the winners of the Italian language and culture competition held last March.
The book fair program also includes a series of afternoon meetings with Italian and Albanian writers from May 21 to 23 at the library of the National Gallery,
An Italian gastronomy book will also be promoted at the book fair.
The book fair is organized by the Italian embassy in Tirana in the frame of the great season of events “Italy, Albania, Two Peoples, One Sea, One Friendship.” The event is also supported by the Tirana and Turin municipalities and the Albanian Publishers Association. The season of events has brought dozens of cultural events since March 15.
The more than 80 events scheduled to be held until July include 25 concerts, 5 film festivals, 10 fairs, 28 conferences, 5 sports events, 7 initiatives on the economic and commercial sector, 6 training activities and 5 contests.
