TIRANA, Feb. 26 – Three restoration projects on Albania’s archeological and monumental heritage have been introduced by Italian and Albanian archaeologists in an exhibition in Tirana. The exhibition called “Knowing, preserving, introducing, Italian research on Albanian archaeological and monumental heritage” features restoration projects on the archeological museums of Tirana and Durres and the Roman amphitheatre of Durres.
“The preservation and promotion of unique cultural and historical values in the country, are not only an added value but even necessary elements to transform Albania into a preferred destination with unique values and inalienable national heritage in the internal tourism market,” said Tourism Minister Eglantina Gjermeni at the launch ceremony of the exhibition which will remain open at the National Museum of History until March 1.
The restoration projects are part of a joint project of the Italian universities of Bari, Parma and Chieti who have been engaged in several archaeological and architectonic projects in Albania in cooperation with the Institutes of the Monuments of Culture and Archaeology.
