Italian and Greek investors competing in the Albanian market

Tirana, June 23. According to data released by the Albanian Institute of Statistics (INSTAT), 51 percent of Albanian companies in foreign hands belong to Italians. Greek business controls only 24.3 percent of companies with foreign capital. However, Greek businesses have control of 48 percent of foreign capital invested in Albania, while only 30 percent of foreign capital in Albania originates from Italy. The rest of the direct foreign investments come from Turkey, and other countries.
According to official data released from Albinvest, a state institution promoting foreign investments in Albania, there are some 1000 businesses with foreign capital in Albania. (Tirana Times Staff)
