BRINDISI, May 7 – They had to wait a night before
they could go back to Italy with their sailboats. That is
what happened to the crews of six boats in recent days
while taking part at the race Brindisi-Orikum (Albania),
organized by the Circle of sailing in Brindisi.
The group, part of a broader participation of boats, was
not able to obtain permits from the Albanian port police
to leave the port city of Orikum. Their intention was to
reach Italy before weather conditions got worse.
The port police office was closed and there was no authority
to carry out routine checks. So they were required
to stay until the next morning. (Tirana Times Staff)
