TIRANA, May 10 – Albania celebrated Saturday the Justice Day with all persons involved pledging to insist on the required reforms in the field. Justice has been a main sphere of criticism to the country since the fall of communism in 1990.
All international institutions have said that reforming the justice and the rule of law has been a main priority that would take the country ahead in its integration efforts. Justice is the permanent challenge of the state, the arena where its authority faces every day the claims of the entire society, according to President Bamir Topi, also head of the High Council of Justice.
Topi said that justice required professionalism but its deliverance depended on the moral integrity of the prosecutor and judge. Topi acknowledged that for quite some times justice had been an important part of the Albanian state agenda and served as a convincing indicator of its success or failure. Justice is part of the package of the Albanian commitments in the framework of the Association-Stabilization Agreement in front of international partner aiming to fulfill the standards to be included in the most important alliance of the continent – the European Union.
The judicial system remains the most talked about field every day by thousand of subjects involved in conflicts at court. It remains the most sensitive area targeted by media comments and even by the comments of politics whose interests can depend from a judicial verdict, according to the president. (Tirana Times Staff)
