TIRANA, Feb. 14 – The Albania government has signed a 2 million euro grant agreement with Germany’s KfW Entwicklungsbank to draft a master plan that will establish a sustainable water supply and sewerage system in the country. The deal was signed last weekend by Albanian Finance Minister Ridvan Bode, Public Works Minister Sokol Olldashi and KfW director Ute Rodrian.
Under the 2 million euro grant by the development bank of the German Federal Republic, the master plan will assess the current water supply and sewerage situation and determine the needs for new investments in each location.
The Finance Ministry says the project is in compliance with the sectoral water and sewerage strategy, describing it as one of government’s priority areas.
The 2 million euro fund will be used for consultancy services to draft the master plant by the Transport and Public Works ministry through the General Directorate of the Water and Sewerage as the implementing agency.
