TIRANA, July 28 – Kosovar President Fatmir Sejdiu sent letters of congratulation on Saturday to new President Bamir Topi and outgoing President Alfred Moisiu.
To Topi, Sejdiu said he is convinced Topi will help the country in a function better and also assist its integration efforts into NATO and the European Union.
Though not making a direct statement, Sejdiu said that after its difficult times last century, Albanians are living through the best time of their existence as a nation.
“Albania is on the brink of independence,” said Sejdiu, adding that they hoped Albania would continue to offer its help in the process.
“At the time when our process of independence is being finalized, we would welcome with full conviction for you to give your precious contribution, which Albania’s government has been giving to the Kosova issue, in accordance with the political will of our people.”
Albania and Kosova, as independent and prosperous countries, will be along side each other on the path to integration into the Euro-Atlantic structures, in the western family and values, he added.
To Moisiu, Sejdiu expressed his gratitude and that of Kosovar people for his contribution on the Kosovar issue.
“Your stand in support of Kosova’s independence during the time you were at the head of the Albanian country is very much appreciated by Kosova’s people and institutions,” he said.
