TIRANA, April 16 – Kosovo-born, Austria-based pianist Ardita Statovci will be in Tirana this week in a solo concert accompanied by the symphonic orchestra of the public broadcaster RTSH. Organized by the Austrian embassy in Albania, the concert scheduled for Friday, April 19 at 19.00 at the University of Arts will bring Statovci performing parts by Russia’s Shostakovich and Finland’s Sibelius in a concert conducted by Albania’s Jetmir Barbullushi and Reinal Foci on trumpet, says the Austrian embassy.
Born in Prishtina in 1982, Ardita Statovci Statovci started learning the piano in her hometown, while at the age of fifteen she was admitted at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg/Austria. Ardita Statovci has performed in many countries throughout Europe and USA as a soloist with different orchestras including the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Mozart Orchestra (Bologna).
For her outstanding achievements as a young artist, Statovci was distinguished several times with scholarships and prizes from the Society for Music Theatre in Vienna, by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Arts and Culture.
In April 2008, she released her first CD, a live recording with works of Brahms, Beethoven and Dutilleux.
The concert by a Kosovo-Austrian artist comes after last February’s performance in Tirana by Austrian conductor Konstantin Ilievsky and cellist Thomas Auner who were accompanied by the symphonic orchestra of the public broadcaster, RTSH. The Austrian musicians will play parts by Strauss, Schumann, Schubert and Korngold.
