TIRANA, May 18 – Kosovo sculptor Avni Behluli has opened a solo exhibition at the Edward Lear gallery in the southern UNESCO town of Berat. The 50 year-old painter is presenting some of his best sculptures created during his 30-year career.
The exhibition features 65 works of different materials such as wood, stone, metal, glass and plastic often using machinery to display them.
His exhibition at the Edward Lear gallery comes immediately after four Montenegrin painters displayed around 70 artworks of different genres and techniques. The exhibition, which remained open until May 14 featured paintings by Renata Masanovic Rijavec, Vahida Hasanagic Nimanbegu, Bibal Nikeziq and Edin Kapllani.
Meanwhile, the year-end “Lear 2010” exhibition, displayed works by artists from Albania, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia. The exhibition which celebrated its 14th edition has become a year-end annual tradition for the historical town of Berat, which two years ago was added to the UNESCO World Heritage list as a rare example of architectural character typical of the Ottoman period.
Open since 1994, the “Edward Lear” is one of the oldest and most important galleries in Albania. Its collection reveals the contemporary and traditional works of art by Albanian and foreign artists.
