TIRANA, March 2 – The implementation of smartMessenger at Mother Teresa Tirana International Airport is a significant milestone in the migration to AMHS (ATS Message Handling System) as mandated by ICAO.
Albania has contracted with Lockheed Martin to modernize the Air Traffic Management (ATM) Systems and Facilities at the Mother Teresa International Airport, which has installed and placed in operation ATM Systems and continue to modernize and upgrade all the ATM systems.
Lockheed Martin has contracted Frequentis to implement smartMessenger configured to support the AMHS and AFTN message formats as well as the conversion between the two formats (AFTN/AMHS Gateway). The system will come with high-end computer servers configured in redundant configuration and System Management and User Agent Workstations.
Frequentis smartMessenger is one subsystem available with the smartAIM product suite which is designed to ease the migration from AFTN (CIDIN) to AMHS by supporting all the message formats and the interoperability with other global messaging system (Internet e-mail, WMO) in one fully integrated system. smartMessenger fully complies with all ICAO AMHS Standards and the Eurocontrol AMHS Specifications.
