TIRANA, April 18 – A collection of 5.5 million manuscripts which have been used to compile the Albanian language dictionaries since 1956 is seriously endangered and only the complete computerization could save them, specialists of the Albanological Studies Centre have warned. The alarm was raised on Monday during a conference on the ‘The Future Trends of Intangible Heritage” bringing together scientists and researchers.
Ardian Marashi, the director of the Centre for Albanological Studies in Tirana, said the situation in the linguistics, ethnography, archeology and musicology archives appears quite severe and the only solution is their digitization.
